Speaking at a Spiritual Spa
I had the privilege of speaking at a women's retreat in Virginia this last week. Both the women and the location were delightful. They held the retreat at the Chesapeake Beach Hotel and Spa resort in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland; a newer hotel with a lovely view of the Bay and loaded with amenities.
The topic was "A Spiritual Spa" and the women were given extra time to also avail themselves of pampering time at The Spa, a full service spa located in the hotel--so the time was refreshing both spiritually and physically. I spent about an hour speaking on the physiology of rest; a fascinating topic, especially given the fast pace of our culture. I enjoyed every minute of the research I did and learned so much during my preparation. The balance of the seven or so hours was spent talking about what keeps us from genuine rest as well as the options for facilitating rest and refreshment.
I was honored to spend the weekend with such wonderful women. Some of them I already knew, some were new to me. All were intelligent, insightful, and interesting! What a blessing...
And on top of the fun of the retreat, I also got to catch up with some dear friends that Dan and I had met when he was on active duty in Virginia during 2002 and 2003. It was great to see them again and hear all the things going on in their lives.
